and Allison is a Career, from a line of Career Tributes, only there’s a part of her that doesn’t quite believe all the glorified hype - but she can’t say no, can she, not with her family watching, and she can’t stop once she’s in the Games, because kill or be killed is no game at all

and Derek takes Isaac in with him, impossibly, a twist no one sees coming - and what no one knows is it’s because of his eyes, his eyes just like Laura’s - and Isaac is stronger than people think, more used to pain than most of them

and Gerard is watching, orchestrating the Games, and no one even bothers to excuse him of nepotism or trying to help Allison, because in truth he’d probably make it harder for her than anything
